A load balancing appliance or load balancer performs the technique of Load balancing. Load balancing enables users to distribute their web traffic over multiple circuits instead of one. This ensures that no single circuit becomes overloaded and if it fails that there is a backup circuit available. Load Balancing improves network traffic flow, reduces congestion and allows users to connect additional circuits into their network to increase bandwidth capacity.
