* Inbound Load balancing only
Load Balancing is a solution that involves aggregating multiple Internet connections through the Xrio UBM appliance in order to distribute traffic efficiently and improve traffic flow and reduce bottlenecks brought about by the use of a single connection. If a single connection fails, then the UBM will continue to utilise the remaining connections to ensure business continuity through it’s failover feature.
Outbound Load Balancing
Xrio UBM’s Outbound Load Balancing solution is designed deliver the following benefits for your Internet connectivity:
- Increase bandwidth capacity
- Achieve 99.9999% Internet uptime
- Utilise different Internet technologies
- Implement flexible load balancing algorithms
Traffic can easily build up within a network due to certain applications such as VoIP and during peak periods. If your bandwidth capacity is low, then this can cause data packets to queue up (congestion) or data packet loss. Load Balancing provides a logical grouping of multiple Internet connections into an organisation’s network instead of a single connection to increase bandwidth capacity and availability.
Xrio UBM optimises the use of the available bandwidth by distributing Internet traffic down each Internet connection. With traffic being shared among each Internet connection at the same time and rate, there is less congestion and delays for the end user. Furthermore, the Load Balancing distribution shall ensure that data packets from the same stream (origination) are not forwarded out of order. Xrio UBM enables you to connect various Internet access technology, including ADSL, Cable, Leased Lines, SDSL and ISDN, etc..
Inbound Load Balancing (DNS)
Xrio UBM’s Inbound Load Balancing solution is designed if your IT network operates as a primary information centre for services such as:
- Web hosting
- E-Mail Servers
- FTP servers
- Or any networking application that serves numerous incoming requests to a network
Inbound Load Balancing works by managing the data from remote or external users that are requesting information from the organisation’s network. This is achieved by distributing the traffic from both directions over multiple Internet connections instead of one, through the use of Intelligent DNS.
Inbound Load Balancing improves the traffic flow of data that is being sent back and forth between a remote or end user and the organisation’s hosted servers. With a single Internet connection these incoming requests can become congested especially if numerous requests come in together.
Each incoming server request is handled by a single Internet connection. Xrio UBM will decide according to your specified routing policies which connection to send the response down.
