The UBM can be used by service providers to deploy connectivity solutions such as bonded ADSL and to compliment existing offerings such as off-site backup, Voice over IP (VoIP) and IPTV. Sitting inside their core network, usually between the Access Networks (such as ADSL central gateway) and Internet transit or peered networks, the UBM aggregates inbound and outbound traffic passing to and from the customer premise. The UBM is deployed with no impact to the ISP's existing topology, simply acting as a 'hosted server' and routing traffic that is passed by the ISP's core routing infrastructure.
