SIEMENS Solution 1 is a wholly owned subsidiary of SIEMENS Communications, who focus on providing managed IT services for small to medium sized organisations. They provide companies with state-of-the-art IT infrastructure for a monthly fee and no upfront costs. They offer a managed, hosted ASP service to its customers which incorporates Thin Client and VPN technology running over multiple low cost ADSL lines.

The Solution

Comprising of several Data Center units (load balancers) and around 400 remote devices installed at customer sites, the SIEMENS Solution 1 network is a large and complex private network providing their customers with a managed service over low cost DSL circuits.

The Xrio Load Balancer is used to bond multiple circuits (up to 16 in some cases) back to their data centre hosting facility. A private network is created over the ADSL network and traffic does not touch the Internet until it reaches the Data Centre. From there it may be routed to a remote site via another bonded link or routed onto the Internet via their Internet transit.
